Guide Services

Guiding Services for Smallmouth and Spring Brook Trout

Our guided trips explore some of Minnesota's most unique and pristine waters. The rivers we choose to float offer high fish densities and often provide plenty of action, giving you the chance to hook a trophy fish. But it's not just about fishing; these unpopulated rivers, particularly the North Shore streams, offer stunning views that enhance the overall experience. Our motto has always been: it’s more than just fish.

For smallmouth bass, we primarily utilize the Cloquet River for both full-day and half-day trips. For brook trout excursions, we select various North Shore rivers based on temperature and flow conditions.

We offer full-day and half-day catch-and-release trips in our fleet of Water Master rafts, including the Bruin and Kodiak models. You can choose to be fully guided in the Bruin model, or, if you prefer a more personal experience, you can row your own Kodiak raft.

Our main focus is on fly fishing; however, we also offer conventional fishing trips upon request.

Brook Trout

These trips are limited and highly dependent on the current water temperature and level. We offer these excursions from mid-May until mid-June. If your booking coincides with a time when the water conditions do not support a safe and productive float, you will receive a full refund.

The floats take place on several North Shore rivers near the Tofte/Lutsen area. After you book your trip, we will provide the meet-up location and directions to get there.

We supply all the necessary gear for these trips. Since these streams are smaller, we recommend using a moderate rod to increase hook-ups. If you prefer to bring your own gear, we suggest a 8' - 4/5 weight rod with a floating line, fluorocarbon leader, and a 2x or 3x tippet.

Smallmouth

Our fishing trips take place on the scenic Cloquet River. We primarily focus on using topwater flies to attract those big topwater strikes.

These trips run from the end of May until mid to late August, depending on water levels. While we provide proven flies that are effective in enticing fish, you are always welcome to bring your own collection.

It's not uncommon to encounter large pike during these trips, so while bite-proof leaders are encouraged, they are not mandatory.

We can supply all the necessary gear upon request; however, if you prefer to bring your own, we recommend using an 8' to 9' rod rated for 6/7 weight with a floating line and a bass-type leader.
